Teaching
My teaching combines sociological theory, qualitative methodology and research-led work with empirical materials.
Approach
I treat methods as ways of producing and justifying knowledge rather than as a catalogue of procedures. Students are encouraged to reconstruct how empirical claims are made: how questions become research designs, how materials become data, and how analytic decisions can be made transparent.
Across courses in sociology and methods, I work with ethnography, interviews, video and interaction analysis, media analysis, and interpretive approaches to data. Theory is introduced as an analytic resource for studying social order, difference, institutions and everyday practice.
